Passport and Visa for Cabo Verde: what documents are required for travel

In Cabo Verde, most foreign nationals require a visa to enter and stay in the country. However, there are some exceptions where citizens from certain countries can enter Cabo Verde without needing a visa.

Visa Exemption

EASE Platform

Travellers are encouraged to register on the EASE platform (Efficient, Automatic, and Secure Entry Process for Travellers) at least five days before their travel date.

EASE: How to Pre-register Before Arriving in Cabo Verde

The process is efficient, automatic, and secure, and pre-registration can be done by the traveller or through a tour operator, such as travel agencies. The aim is to facilitate and expedite travellers' entry, making the process faster and less bureaucratic.

During pre-registration, the following information is required:

• Personal Information, such as name, date of birth, nationality, etc.
• Additional Personal Information, such as address, phone number, and email (a verification code is sent to the provided email).
• Travel Information, including passport details, purpose of the visit (Business, Official Visit, Holidays, Health, Study, etc.), travel dates, arrival airport (Boa Vista, Praia, Sal, or São Vicente), flight number, and accommodation details in Cabo Verde (hotel, family, etc.).

After filling in this information, it is important to verify all details in the pre-registration summary. If everything is correct, you can proceed to pay the Airport Security Tax (TSA), set at 3,400 CVE, which is approximately 30 euros.

Children under two years of age are exempt from pre-registration and TSA payments.

Remote Work Visa in Cabo Verde

Those looking to enjoy endless hours of sunshine while working remotely from Cabo Verde can benefit from:

• Exemption from income taxes;
• A temporary visa for six months, renewable for another six months;
• Reduced visa fees.

To obtain a remote work visa for Cabo Verde, visit the Remote Working Cabo Verde platform and apply. 

In addition to a passport valid for at least six months, you will need to provide proof of individual or family income, with a minimum average bank balance of 1,500€ (individual) or 2,700€ (families). It is also advised to have travel and health insurance, and you must present a copy of the reservation for the accommodation where you intend to stay.

The decision process typically takes two weeks. If approved, you will need to present the following documents at the airport: a passport valid for at least six months, a copy of the approval letter from the Cabo Verde Tourism Institute, a copy of the visa approval declaration issued by the Directorate of Borders and Foreigners, proof of airport tax payment – 34.00 euros/person, and an individual visa fee – 20.00 euros/person.
